Restorative Dentistry

Many types of teeth restorations allow us to save natural teeth when they have been damaged.

Reliable Teeth Restoration in Terrace

The restoration of your teeth’s natural function, appearance and health comprises the most common and encompassing part of our practice here at Horizon Dental. Often performed in conjunction with endodontic or prosthodontic procedures, many types of teeth restorations in Terrace allow us to save our patients’ natural teeth when these have been damaged (e.g. by decay, trauma, etc.). Some of the most common restorative dentistry treatments performed at Horizon Dental in Terrace include:

  • Direct Restorations – This procedure involves removing the decayed tissue, placing a soft filling into the prepared tooth, and building up the tooth before the material sets hard. The advantage of direct restorations is that they usually set quickly and can be placed in a single procedure.
  • Indirect Restorations – An indirect dental restoration is produced outside of the mouth, and then adhered to the prepared, affected tooth. Typical examples of indirect restorations are crowns, inlays and onlays.
  • Bridges – A bridge replaces missing teeth with artificial teeth by literally bridging the gap, where one or more teeth may have been. The two teeth adjacent to the gap are prepared to serve as support posts for the bridge, which can be fabricated from gold, metal alloys, porcelain or a combination of these. Unlike a removable bridge, which you can take out and clean, a fixed bridge can only be removed by a dentist.
  • Implants – Dental implants are surgically inserted into the jaw or cheek bone to mimic the roots of natural teeth. Here they serve as a highly stable base for individual replacement teeth, bridges or a denture.
